Don't leave Presents out for burglars

Crime-fighting charity, Crimestoppers, is calling upon residents to be careful around their home security as domestic burglary tends to rise during special seasons.

The charity is also appealing for anonymous information on this

type of crime.

At home

Read some advice about how to keep your home safe.

  * Protect your home. Put presents hidden out of

  view from the window

  * Lock and bolt your doors and windows

  * If you are expecting a parcel, make sure someone

is there when it is delivered, or ask a neighbour to

take it in. Avoid having it left on the door step

  * Keep keys, mobile phones, purses, wallets and

other valuable items locked away out of sight

  * Don't leave your keys in the door at any time

  * Never leave keys in view of the windows or doors

  * Once you've opened all your gifts, don't leave the

boxes on view outside to advertise your good

  fortune to criminals

Burglars will take whatever they can get hold of, so it's important ... take extra measures to keep your property safe..

Times are hard, money is tight, so take care of valuable items and presents at any time.

  Burglars do not take holidays.

Please do not make life easy for them.
