'Taking Care of our Community Together'

Welcome to IOW Neighbourhoodwatch Association

Neighbourhood Watch is about looking out for each other. Neighbours uniting and acting together means that dozens of eyes and ears are ready to pick up on anything happening in the neighbourhood that could cause worry and concern. Its about being a good neighbour and caring about your community. Neighbourhood Watches are an important link in the communication between residents and the local Police in the fight against crime.

Neighbourhood Watch advice to help reduce opportunist thieves

Safer Neighbourhoods Thumbnail

One thing does not change , safeguarding your possessions, stay alert to opportunist thieves........

Don't leave parcels on view where they attract unwanted attention.
Lock Doors on vehicles, keep your homes secure, a quick glance through a window will encourage thieves to attempt a break in.
Keep things safe and out of sight....keep thieves out!

  Good Neighbours

A new scheme to plug gaps in the voluntary sector has recently been announced.
Many of our more mature residents come to that time of life, when a little help is needed to do the simple things in life. ie. Changing light bulbs, Popping to the shops, or just checking that they are safe.

Former Cowes policeman, Mark O’Sullivan, a victim of government cutbacks in April this year when he was made redundant, joined Age Concern to spearhead its recruitment drive for the Good Neighbours
Scheme.

1. Always make sure that your home looks occupied even when you are out. Leave a light on, using a timer switch, and perhaps a radio on a talk channel. Lock windows and doors and ensure that any alarms are set.

2. When out shopping don't put items in the car on display. If you have to put them in the car whilst you go off again, then ensure they are put in a covered boot area

If you have information about any crime, call the police on 0845 045 45 45   or you can call anonymously to the independent charity...........CRIMESTOPPERS 0800 555 111.

   Services to the Community

As part of their commitment to the community across the Island, the IW Fire & Rescue service are providing residents with a programme that visits homes and businesses to raise the awareness of 'Fire Safety'.
As a community based organisation the Isle of Wight Neighbourhood Watch Association are pleased to be a partner in this potential life saving initiative.
