Isle of Wight Neighbourhood Watch Association.
Aim:
'Getting together with your neighbours to reduce local crime and disorder in the bid to make your neighbourhood a safe and better place to live, work and play'.
Terms of Reference..........
1. Neighbourhood Watch exists and strives to..............
2. Reduce crime and anti-social behaviour activities.
3. Minimise the oportunity to commit crime and anti-social
activities.
4. Provide reassurance to local residents and reduce the fear of
crime and anti-social behaviour activities.
5. Encourage neighbourliness and closer communities.
6. Improve the quality of life for local residents.
It will achieve this by:
1. Being a community based organisation, involving residents
working together.
2. Working in partnership with the Police and other agencies to
reduce crime and anti-social behaviour activities.
3. Sharing information and advice with the Police and other
agencies concerning crime and other incidents.
4. Identifying issues of local concern.

5. Becoming involved in community problem solving, agreeing regulary
which problems to target and what action to take.
6. Getting involved in prevention of crime, disorder and anti-social
behaviour prevention initiatives.
7. Monitoring and reporting on Anti-Social Behaviour.
8. Forming county associations to share and disseminate good
practice.
9. Linking into and working with other Watch Movements and wider
voluntary, public sector , and private sector bodies.
10. Supporting the development of Watches or similar schemes into
area's with greatest need, including engaging with minority
communities which are currently under represented within the Watch
movement.
11. Providing training opportunities for Watch Co-ordinators.
12. Developing an agreement between Neighbourhood Watch and the
Police.
13. Providing feedback to Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators who
pass information / intelligence / incidents to the Police.
14. Providing rapid dissemination of current information / intelligence/ to
Co-ordinators.
15. Integrating Neighbourhood Watch into its Neighbourhood Policing
Programme. By establishing Area Co-ordinators.
16. Assisting Local schemes to find sources of funding for running costs
and other initiatives.
17. At a local level, bringing together Neighbourhood Watch, work with
other Watch, voluntary, public and private sector bodies concerned
with crime, anti-social behaviour and quality of life issues.
